Police said the school bus appeared to have gone through a red light Monday afternoon.
Six people were taken to area hospitals after being hurt Monday in a school bus crash in Ridgewood, police said.
The school bus was traveling north on South Van Dien Avenue, near East Ridgewood Avenue, when it “apparently” went through a red light and was struck by a Mazda CX-9 and a Land Rover, according to Ridgewood police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke. Two adult passengers, the driver and one 11-year-old child on the bus were taken to local hospitals after the wreck, Luthcke said.
The Land Rover driver and his 15-year-old daughter were also sent to the hospital, according to police. The Mazda driver refused medical care at the scene. All of the injuries were considered non-life-threatening, Luthcke said. Police were continuing to investigate the crash.
