NSTnation Scammers con elderly man out of RM196,000
The victim was told that someone had used his MyKad to collect sleeping pills at Kuala Lumpur Hospital and when he denied it, the scammers said his identity could have been used in drug related activities before.
"When the victim denied collecting the pills, the call was transferred to one"Inspector Gan" who alleged that the victim's debit card could have been misused in a drug activity. The victim was then instructed to provide a copy of his debit card for investigations purposes. Wazir said the suspects continued to remain in touch with the victim and told him to deposit another RM50,000 to help clear his name.
