Retail stores nationwide received shipments of the products from about Dec. 23 to Jan. 17, according to the USDA.

More than 26 tons of ready-to-eat sausage products made by Daniele International LLC, a Rhode Island-based company, are under recall because they may be contaminated with listeria,The recalled meat was sold under a number of brand names, as Italian and Spanish style charcuterie platters or salami, the USDA said.

Retail stores nationwide received shipments of the products from about Dec. 23 to Jan. 17, according to the USDA, which said it was concerned the products may have found their way into a consumer’s fridge. According to the USDA, these are the recalled products:“Boar’s Head CHARCUTUERIE TRIO”; 6-oz. Tray; Sell by date: 4/13/23, 4/14/23, and 4/15/23.“COLAMECO’S PRIMO NATURALE BLACK PEPPER UNCURED SALAMI”; 7-oz. Tray; Use by date: 12/22/23, 12/30/23, and 1/17/24.

It was unclear whether customers could receive a refund, or which retailers had carried the product. An inquiry from USA TODAY to Daniele International LLC was not immediately returned Monday. The USDA said it discovered listeria monocytogenes on surfaces that had come into contact with the recalled products.

Left to fester, listeria infections can cause miscarriages in pregnant people. Roughly 1,600 people become ill from the bacterium each year, and about 260 die, the CDC said.
