DCN-JOC News ServicesREGINA — Rural communities in Saskatchewan are going to receive $13 million from the province for 34 different highway projects.
The funding comes through the Rural Integrated Roads for Growth program. The program aids municipalities in constructing and upgrading rural infrastructure, explains a news release. Eligible projects can have 50 per cent of their costs covered, up to a maximum of $500,000. Seventeen different municipalities, including Coal Fields, Moose Creek and Newcombe, will be receiving the $500,000 maximum.“Rural municipalities maintain local infrastructure, which is supporting Saskatchewan’s rural-based industries and the provincial economy,” said Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities president Ray Orb in the release.
“The RIRG program provides financial support for rural roads which is important for our municipalities.”
