PARIS (Reuters) - A parody of Leonardo Da Vinci's famous fresco 'The Last Supper' featuring drag queens in the Olympic opening ceremony in Paris has sparked fury among the Catholic church and far-right politicians, while supporters praised its message of tolerance.
The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture announced the news in a statement today , stating that the recognition was awarded at 7pm during the 46th World Heritage Committee Session, which is being held from July 21 to 31 in New Delhi, India.
"The nomination process for the Niah Caves Archaeological Site began in 2019. The Tentative List document was submitted to Unesco on Jan 22, 2021, and on Jan 31, 2023, the formal nomination documents were handed over to the Unesco Secretariat in Paris, France,” the statement read.
