MIRI: Sarawak PKR leaders have expressed surprise with a news report which claimed that party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had tried to meet the Sarawak Chief Minister to secure the support of Sarawak ruling parties for the prime minister post.
Miri MP Dr Teo Yu Keng who is PKR national vice-president said he was never told of any latest visit by Anwar to the state."Is it accurate? I was not informed that Anwar is coming to Sarawak, let alone that he was trying to meet the Chief Minister.Sarawak PKR information chief Abun Sui also said he was surprised when informed about the report.Sui also said there was no planning for any latest visit by Anwar to Sarawak.
The news portal claimed that Anwar had tried to meet Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Openg to secure the support of 17 MPs from Sarawak's ruling coalition in Gabungan Parti Sarawak. The report claimed that Anwar needed their support to secure enough MPs to enable him to take over the PM post.
