White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told special counsel investigators that she misled the press about the reason President Donald Trump fired FBI Director James Comey in May 2017, when she told reporters that “countless” FBI agents had lost confidence in the agency’s leader.
Mueller‘s report said: “Sanders acknowledged to investigators that her comments were not founded on anything.“ Sanders did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Thursday. But she did tell Fox News‘ Sean Hannity on Thursday night that she had a “slip of the tongue when I used the word countless, but it‘s not untrue.“
