Sanders Campaign Draws Volunteers From Around the World

“The road to the Democratic nomination is not paved with statewide winner-take-all victories. This is not a race for governor, the U.S. Senate or the state treasurer's office. This is a district-by-district contest for pledged delegates awarded proportionally,” Roger Lau, Ms. Warren’s campaign manager, said in a memo to supporters Tuesday afternoon.

Asked by a reporter a day earlier whether she could capture the nomination without winning states outright, Ms. Warren declined to answer. Mr. Lau laid out point-by-point what he deemed the flaws of Ms. Warren’s top rivals: former Vice President Joe Biden, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, and Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar.
