Valparaiso Police and the Porter County Coroner’s Office are investigating an early morning crash Wednesday at U.S. 30 and Indiana 49 in which a San Pierre man died.
The coroner’s office identified the man as Roland Nielsen, 69, and said he was a passenger in the vehicle. The cause and manner of death are still under investigation, according to a release.The Valparaiso Police Department responded to a single-vehicle crash around 1:30 a.m. Sept. 6, according to a department release.
“The motor vehicle crash remains under investigation; however, alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to be a contributing factor at this time,” police said.While the crash closed the intersection, police said all of the ramps along the U.S. 30 and Indiana 49 interchange had reopened by 7 a.m.
