A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN)-nominee, Olayiwola Afolabi, has urged members of the National Assembly to intervene in the bill for a law to establish the
police pension board and remove theAfolabi, a Benin-based philanthropic legal luminary, made the admonition in a letter to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
He noted that after the initial passage of the bill into law by the last National Assembly, it was taken to the then President Muhammadu Buhari for assent, but it was not signed.The Ekiti State-born senior lawyer, who would soon be confirmed, along with other shortlisted SAN-nominees, reiterated that most security agencies had pulled out of the contributory pension scheme, leaving the commissioner of police down to the least officer in the police force as members of the scheme.
