NHL: William Eklund was determined to make the San Jose Sharks roster out of training camp this year
San Jose Sharks’ William Eklund warms up in a Pride themed jersey before a game against New York Islanders at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., on Sunday, March 18, 2023. SAN JOSE – William Eklund was determined to make the San Jose Sharks roster out of training camp this year, even though he was only about six months removed from having surgery to repair a torn labrum on his left shoulder.
“It means a lot. I worked for this,” Eklund said. “Now my job is to be here all year. So my focus is on that.” Sharks captain Logan Couture, fellow forward Mitchell Russell, and defenseman Nikita Okhotiuk are all considered injured non-roster players. For now, though, it appears the Sharks have three players on entry-level contracts to start the season with the team.
