The suspect can be seen in the video pursuing the responding police officer down a staircase, ignoring a warning that the officer would shoot if he did not stop.
Police were responding to a 911 call at a residence placed by a man claiming that his son had killed his wife while allegedly on drugs. When the responding officer arrived on the scene, they found the 911 caller outside the home, bleeding from the right side of his face.
The responding officer went up a flight of stairs to the second story of the building where they encountered Child holding a knife. Child can be seen in the video pursuing the responding police officer down a staircase, ignoring several commands to drop the knife and a warning from the officer that they would shoot.
The responding officer, identified by police officials as Officer Eduardo Villanueva, fired two shots at Child. Child was ultimately brought to a nearby hospital where he died of gunshot wounds. Witnesses are asked to contact the San Francisco District Attorney’s Independent Investigations Bureau at 652-4411.
