The four-week-old endangered red panda is first cub born at the zoo in nearly 20 years.

Guests at the San Diego Zoo were the first to witness a rare, heartwarming event.

Since 2006, no red panda has been born at the San Diego Zoo, and the species itself has experienced a population decline. In partnership with the nonprofit Red Panda Network the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance aims to restore and protect vulnerable habitats belonging to red pandas.
