The small batch, handmade ice cream maker's Thanksgiving collection is back, this month only, with two new flavors and three old favorites
Here's your courtesy reminder to start lining up now. Salt & Straw's Thanksgiving flavors are dropping Friday at its three San Diego County locations. Since 2013, the Portland based ice cream maker's signature November menu has featured Thanksgiving dinner classics — in ice cream form. Pints cost $12.50 and one scoop is $6.50. To start: a bread course.
But their texture is indeed meaty, in a way that other ice cream mix-ins can be. The cranberry sauce adds a bright counterpoint. Again, turkey is protein and cranberry sauce is carbs. Put them together and what do you get: ice cream. Did you save room for dessert? Two fall flavored scoops are back: Mom's Mango Pie and the vegan Pumpkin & Gingersnap Pie. Mango pie, introduced last year, has cream cheese, whipped cream and sweet curd.
