San Diegans shine during section championship weekend in volleyball, tennis; football playoffs continue this week
Mt. Carmel Girls tennis With Saturday's 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 victory over Patrick Henry’s Kate Prichard in the section championships, the junior captured the first-ever individual crown in tennis for the Sundevils. Oceanside Girls volleyball Collecting a team-high 12 kills, the senior outside hitter led Oceanside to a 25-10, 25-13, 25-15 triumph over Valley Center to capture the San Diego Section Division IV title, a first for the school.
Cathedral Catholic Girls volleyball Pounding down 11 kills to go with five key blocks, the 11th-grader led Cathedral Catholic to a 25-17, 25-20, 21-25, 23-25, 15-4 win over Torrey Pines in the Open Division championship game. Our Lady of Peace Girls volleyball With 13 kills and 20 digs, the junior helped lead the Pilots to their first section title, a 19-25, 22-25, 35-33, 25-20, 15-7 victory over Pacific Ridge for the section Division II championship and a state playoff berth.
