Need help finding milk for baby? San Antonio mom’s Breastaurant app helps parents amid formula shortage
of infant formula. In February, a recall by Abbott Nutrition of its Michigan baby formula plant delayed products getting to store shelves.
The initiative is the result of Guerra’s struggles breastfeeding her first two children and the relief she received from a donor’s breast milk. Much of her program is based on her experiences with breast milk banks and breastfeeding community. Guerra said the app has reached more than 5,000 in Bexar and Wilson counties and more than 50,000 on the East and West Coasts. She said app usage has gone international to countries that include Canada, Ecuador, Mexico and India.
