The Samsung Galaxy Watch FE has been officially announced by the company, with an availability start date on 24 June in the US.
There have been a small handful of leaks regarding the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE, including a near-complete spec sheet. With there being just about nothing left to the imagination, the South Korean tech giant has decided to just lift the veil over the more budget friendly smartwatch, rather than wait for its upcoming Unpacked event coming early next month.
On the surface, the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE looks quite a lot like the Watch6, which is not surprising since it's being unveiled before the sequel. Not the Classic variant though, as the one thing that's notably missing from the FE is the rotating bezel. It also only comes in a single 40mm size, though it does come in three colour variants.
As for its spec sheet, the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE comes with a 1.2-inch 396 x 396 Super AMOLED always-on display, an Exynos W920 chipset, 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. The battery is rated at 247mAh, and it will be running Wear OS with the One UI Watch 5.0 overlay. Completing the package are the IP68, 5ATM and MIL-STD-810H ratings.
While not mentioned in the official press release, Engadget reports that the Bluetooth model of the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE will be available in the US starting 24 June, and for US$200 . The LTE model will arrive in October instead, and with a US$250 price tag. For now, it's unclear what these prices and dates will translate to for the local market, but we'll let you know once we hear from the company.
