Major Lewis Reckline, Area Commander for The Salvation Army Austin, expressed gratitude for the community's support. "This community has been fantastic. We ask that you continue to support us," Reckline said. The organization reports that 86% of those sheltered in these facilities are women and children. Funds raised will provide shelter, meals, and resources to help families regain self-sufficiency.
Despite falling short of their $1 million goal, the organization considers the event a success in both fundraising and awareness.
