The Bruins fell 15-6 in the opening game of the NJCAA West District championship against Southeast Community College in Nebraska on Saturday; however, they came back strong during their second game with a 14-1 win.SLCC Athletics reported that Trey Gambill hit a three-run home run early in game two, with Taylor Ayala adding a two-run shot late in the game. The team held an 8-0 lead after four innings.
The Bruins are now 31-18. They said this is Salt Lake's second season making the West District championship games after they fell short to Central Arizona one season ago.The team now awaits its seeding and opponent in the upcoming NJCAA College World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado.
