Salahuddin Ayub: Agro ministry to work with UPM to modernise farmers

PUTRAJAYA: Plans are being drafted to empower farmers to be farm managers, with hopes of enabling them to produce better crops and yields, says the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry.

Minister Datuk Salahuddin Ayub said the ministry has been tasked to work with Universiti Putra Malaysia to train farmers to become farm managers and equipping them with the latest in farming knowledge and technology.

He said the ministry will be meeting with UPM experts to work out a strategy as soon as he returns from his working visit to Shanghai, China. Salahuddin said this at a press conference after the Alibaba Juhuasuan Convergence in Malaysia event here.
