Saifuddin Nasution says decision on refugee employment should be based on Home Ministry data
PUTRAJAYA, May 9 — Any decision to allow refugees to be employed in any sector should be based on data prepared by the Home Ministry , said its minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
“The KDN was given the responsibility to register refugees and issue them with a refugee card . Previously, the government’s initiative was to appoint a third party but they could only register about 30,000 compared with the data obtained from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees . He said that the Immigration Department was given the responsibility to register these refugees, and once they had been registered, the ministry could help find them employment.
