San Antonio FC opens 2022 season with championship expectations

San Antonio FC v Austin Bold FC at Toyota Field on Saturday, July 3, 2021.As San Antonio FC readies for the start of a new season on the heels of the first conference finals appearance in club history, forward Santiago Patino knows the standards are only going to grow higher and higher.
“It’s another goal of ours to go there, and then even further,” forward Justin Dhillon said. “We definitely think we have the talent, we have the work ethic, we’ve got the coaching, we’ve got all the tools here to allow us to accomplish those goals, and I think this could be a really great year.” Marcus Epps scored seven goals, tied the team lead with four assists and led the club with 58 chances created in 2021 before landing with Phoenix Rising FC during the offseason. Midfielder Cam Lindley, who ranked second with 57 chances created, also departed San Antonio, signing with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.
San Antonio also brought in a trio of midfielders with USL experience in Deshane Beckford from Colorado Springs, David Loera from Phoenix and Ates Diouf from Austin Bold FC.
