Melbourne Zoo’s beloved Man Jai elephant has suddenly died at the young age of nine.
Zookeepers noticed the Asian elephant was uncharacteristically lethargic on Monday, developing an acute onset of Elephant Endotheliotropic Herpesvirus .
Zoosvictoria announced the devastating news about losing their “incredibly loved” elephant across their social media. “[He] would always brighten our day and make all who saw him smile. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.” “We encourage you to share them here with our community of wildlife lovers as you join us in thanking and sharing condolences with those who cared for Man Jai over the last nine years,” they said.
