The Sabah Water Resources Council has agreed to gazette all water source areas in each district, especially in the seven districts that have water treatment plants in Sabah, as a protected area. Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, who is also the Council’s Chairman, said the seven districts are Tuaran, Papar, Tawau, Sandakan, Semporna, Kudat and Penampang. Besides that, he said the Council would also gazette the identified water catchment areas located outside the protected water sources areas as conservation areas.
