KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno prefers to go to the ballot box to topple the Parti Warisan Sabah-led coalition state government, says Datuk Bung Moktar Radin.

The Sabah Umno chief said as far Sabah Umno was concerned, it was best to win the state government back through elections.

“In this case, we are not behind it. We do not have any access to information about what’s happening, ” Bung told reporters Sunday after party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zaid Hamidi ended an overnight visit to meet senior party members in preparation for possible snap elections. “Elections are better, it is best for us to get the mandate from the people, ” he said, while insisting that Sabah Umno is not backing or endorsing the move to form the state government through defections.

Bung said Zahid, who had arrived here on Saturday, held a series of meetings with different levels of party leaders from division heads, Wanita, Puteri and youth heads where they have agreed on pledges on a manifesto for the general election.
