KOTA KINABALU: The dissolution of the Sabah State Assembly by Yang DiPertua Negeri has been gazetted by the state government.
A state government gazette has been issued by the Sabah Government Printers that Tun Juhar Mahiruddin has ordered the dissolution of the assembly with effect on July 30,2020.
The gazette stated the dissolution was done by Yang DiPertuan Negeri under Clause under Article 3 of the State Constitution to dissolve the Legislative Assembly. The gazetting of the dissolution confirms that a state election would have to be held within 60 days. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal announced earlier Thursday that Juhar had consented to his request to dissolve the Sabah state assembly amid a spate of defections.
