KOTA KINABALU: It is time for Sabah to have its own programme separate from Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H), says the Sabah Law Society (SLS).
In a statement on Thursday , SLS president Roger Chin reasoned that under the Sabah Maju Jaya development plan, the state intends to attract external investments to boost development.
The Federal Government has said it would review the new, stricter rules recently announced for MM2H after receiving feedback on the changes. Chin said Sabah can emulate Sarawak which has its own MM2H programme under the Sarawak Tourism Board, with different requirements and incentives from the one implemented in Peninsular Malaysia.
“Accordingly, these special interests and safeguards allow Sarawak to have its own MM2H programme ... Likewise, such special interests and safeguards for Sabah also permit this state to run its own MM2H programme with its own terms and conditions,” Chin said.
