KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak and Gabungan Bersatu Sabah are looking into establishing a loose committee of MPs to consult on issues pertaining to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 .
The MPs would be members of parties affiliated with the two coalitions, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku president Jeffrey Kitingan said after meeting Sarawak Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg at the latter’s office yesterday.He said members of the proposed committee would seek to present a common position in parliamentary debates on MA63 issues,
GPS is Sarawak’s ruling coalition and GBS is a confederation of elected representatives who are in the Sabah opposition.He said they discussed, among other things, the rights of Sabah and Sarawak to their oil and gas and the future of the two states in the light of Indonesia’s decision to move its capital to Kalimantan.
