KOTA KINABALU: Opposition Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri Sabah is in full support of the Sarawak government's call to increase the number of Sabah and Sarawak representation in the Malaysian Parliament.

Its president Datuk Henrynus Amin, said Anak Negeri fully supported the call by Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri James Masing for Sabah to join Sarawak in the fight for the restoration of the one-third Borneon states representation in Parliament.

Henrynus said Sabah and Sarawak legislative quota in Parliament was changed without the consent of Sabah and Sarawak with the sudden departure of Singapore from Malaysia in 1965. He said that before the departure of Singapore, the Malaysian Parliament cannot amend the Federal Constitution without the support of lawmakers from Sabah Sarawak and Singapore.

Henrynus said it is therefore wise and timely for Sabah and Sarawak to join forces as regional partners to create a new political vision of state-federal relation based on the original assurances and spirit of the formation of Malaysia.
