KOTA KINABALU: Sabah should react and call for a special sitting to table the anti-hopping Bill for the state quickly instead of waiting, says Sabah DAP.
Its secretary Phoong Jin Zhe said that with so many uncertainties in politics especially in Malaysia, it was best for Sabah to call for a special meeting for this Bill to be tabled as soon as possible.
He was responding to Gabungan Rakyat Sabah secretary-general Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun’s statement that further discussion was needed for the state to table the anti-hopping Bill in Sabah. On Thursday , the Constitution Bill 2022 to create a provision prohibiting Members of the Parliament from changing parties, received the support of more than two-thirds of MPs, with 209 out of 220 MPs being in favour.
Phoong said as Maximus and Masidi were both in the state government, they had the right to make recommendations to call for a special state sitting, although the decision lies with the State Speaker.
