KOTA KINABALU: The flood relief centre in Penampang was officially deactivated at 4.30pm on Tuesday (Oct 11) after the 20 victims there were allowed to return to their homes.

The Sabah disaster management committee secretariat in a statement said that as of 8pm, the number of evacuees remained the same for three other flood shelters in three districts, as well as the shelter for fire victims in Kudat.

There were 61 flood victims housed at Sri Keramat PPR Hall in Putatan, 10 in Kompleks Latihan dan Pemulihan OKU in Papar, and 51 in DSP Mohd Dun Banir hall in Beaufort.Several districts in the west coast of Sabah were hit with floods following continuous rain on Sunday , triggering landslides. Roads were also inaccessible.
