KOTA KINABALU: Beauty pageants should be supported because they have a multitude of benefits that go beyond mere aesthetics, says Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam. The state Local Government and Housing Minister said beauty pageants have the potential to boost tourism and thus spur the economy.

“Beauty pageants also give opportunities to the contestants to showcase their talents as well as give them the confidence to pursue their interests and demonstrate leadership in whatever field they pursue.“Besides that, there is also an opportunity for corporations to showcase their business connections, especially in terms of fashion, beauty products and others,” Gunsalam said when officiating the Miss Pearl International Beauty Pageant 2023 on Sunday night.

At the event, 27-year-old baker Soen Tan Sieu Ni was crowned winner while the first runner-up was Diamond Pang Nai Ee, a 21-year-old front desk clerk and social media strategist.to our Premium Plan for an ad-free and unlimited reading experience!
