KOTA KINABALU: Despite acknowledging the Pakatan Harapan presidential council's decision to stick with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as candidate for Prime Minister, Sabah DAP believes the option of putting an east Malaysian leader as candidate should remain open.

In a joint statement Monday by its MPs and assemblymen, Sabah DAP said no political coalition could rule the country without the support of Sabah and Sarawak.

The joint statement was issued by Sabah DAP's seven assemblymen - Frankie Poon Ming Fung , Jimmy Wong Sze Phin, Ginger Phoong Jin Zhe, Jannie Lasimbang, Tan Lee Fatt, Calvin Chong Ket Kiun, and Ronnie Loh Ee Eng - and three MPs - Chan Foong Hin, Noorita Sual and Vivian Wong Shir Yee - as well as Senator Adrian Banie Lasimbang.

"However, we would like to also caution our coalition leaders not to entirely discount Sabahans and Sarawakians from being put forward to lead the country. "It is critical for the leaders of Pakatan to be conscious and aware of who are friends and who are foes," they reasoned.
