Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government supports collaborative, ground-driven conservation efforts, particularly in reforestation and habitat restoration, Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Joniston Bangkuai said.
He said closer coordination among government agencies, non-governmental organisations and private sector players is crucial to ensure conservation initiatives are carried out more effectively. Advertisement Speaking at the Reforestation Partners Appreciation Event organised by 1Stop Borneo Wildlife on Thursday, he said Sabah’s globally recognised biodiversity carries a responsibility to protect it amid ongoing development and land use changes. He commended the efforts of groups such as Kopel, Ape Malaysia and Bora, and said initiatives by 1Stop Borneo Wildlife that focus on restoring ecological functions are strengthened through collaboration with agencies, including the Forestry Department, Sabah Parks and private sector partners.
