SA Veterans Memorial wins Region IV-5A crown, advances to state semifinals
San Antonio Veterans Memorial’s Gervai Maeweathers and the Patriots faced Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial for the Region IV-5A boys basketball championship on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Littleton Gym in San Antonio.On Saturday afternoon at Littleton Gym, the San Antonio Veterans Memorial boys basketball team took it one step further.
With the win, the Patriots advance to the Class 5A State Semifinals on Thursday at the Alamodome. The Patriots will play at either 7 or 8:30 p.m. and the pairings for the semifinal games will be announced by the UIL on Sunday. The Patriots will take a 13-game winning streak into the state semifinals and they have lost just one game in their last 35 outings.
“This game was a total team effort,” said Perez. “We truly believe all 11 guys on our roster can perform. We have so much depth and to have that much depth, you have to be unselfish and these kids are totally unselfish.”
