KUCHING: Sarawakians should not let up on their vigilance although the state reported zero Covid-19 cases for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday (Aug 4), says Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah.

The Deputy Chief Minister said it was important to continue adhering to the standard operating procedures to contain the spread of the virus."The war is still going on and the situation has not stabilised as expected. Therefore, I urge Sarawakians to keep complying with the SOPs, whether we are shopping or in public places or in restaurants.

Uggah also reminded the public to record their names and phone numbers accurately when visiting business premises, as this was important for contact tracing purposes. "The purpose of registration is so that we know who has been to a particular premises. I must emphasise the names and records are very important in our contact tracing.

Meanwhile, state CID chief Senior Asst Comm Denis Leong said police were still waiting for guidelines from Bukit Aman on enforcing the mandatory use of face masks in public places.
