S'gor top cop: Over 300 policemen absent from duty last year

SHAH ALAM: A total of 319 policemen in Selangor were absent from duty last year, says Comm Datuk Noor Azam Jamaludin.

However, the Selangor police chief said 297 of these instances were resolved and only 22 remain unsettled.

Comm Noor Azam said once the personnel involved were tracked down, disciplinary action – including demotion and job termination – could be taken.Meanwhile, Selangor integrity and standards compliance department chief Asst Comm Mohd Ismail Muslim said among the reasons for being"missing in action" were drug problems or being involved in criminal activities, including extortion and corruption.

On another matter, ACP Mohd Ismail said disciplinary action had been taken against 578 senior officers, 12,053 lower-ranked personnel and 231 civilian personnel.ACP Mohd Ismail said Selangor police also achieved a 99.8% asset declaration rate.
