With his political future in jeopardy, District 10 Councilman Clayton Perry said Wednesday he doesn’t recall a car crash for which he’s under investigation by San Antonio police for allegedly fleeing the scene.

His statement marks the first time Perry, 67, has publicly acknowledged he was involved in the crash just after 9 p.m. Sunday on the Northeast Side. Police found Perry in the backyard of his house on Calico Creek Drive with a cut on his head. He was moaning and smelled of alcohol. The morning after the crash, Perry said he saw a doctor and spent a day and a half at Brooke Army Medical Center for treatment and observation.
