Russian hackers claim they have gained access to stolen data belonging to Fortescue Metals Group in a turbulent week for the mining and green energy ASX-listed company.
Ransomware group C10p is believed to have orchestrated high-profile attacks on more than 100 firms across the world, including Crown Towers and Rio Tinto.
Fortescue documents and customer data have not been leaked, which will allow the company more time should it wish to negotiate a ransom payment. The hackers say their motives are financial and not political as the US government places a $10 million USD bounty for information leading to the identity of the hackers.
