Russia's investigative committee has claimed DNA testing proves Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin was among those killed in a plane crash last week.
The former head of the mercenary group was widely believed to have been killed in the fiery crash last Wednesday, but doubts remained after it was revealed a second jet operated by Wagner had been due to fly around the same time.

Picture: Contributor/Getty Images That included Prigozhin's right hand man, Dmitry Utkin, as well as Wagner's head of logistics Valery Chekalov. The US said it was almost certain that the Wagner boss was murdered on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin, but had no evidence to back up that argument at the present time.
"I knew Prigozhin for a very long time, since the early 1990s. He was a man with a difficult fate, and he made serious mistakes in life. His march toward Moscow was the greatest threat to President Putin's power in more than twenty years and analysts said his presence in Russia would continue to have a destabilising effect on the Kremlin.
