RTE Director General Kevin Bakhurst has published a scoping document outlining their intention to register the outside work of their staff as well as registers conflict of interests
RTE have published a scoping document outlining their intention to introduce a form and a register of interests for staff and contractors at the national broadcaster.
The broadcaster says it plans to expand obligations as part of the existing Register of Interests to include a 'nil returns’ form. A standardised form will be introduced across RTÉ for seeking approval for external activities, to be collated centrally in an RTÉ Register of External Activities. The proposal also states that RTÉ locations, studios, equipment, brands and programmes must not be used to promote outside commercial interests and any approved external activity must only be undertaken outside of RTÉ.
