For many years, the newly crowned winner would be given a bespoke tiara designed by either Waterford Crystal and Tipperary Crystal as part of the Rose of Tralee celebrations
RTE has explained why the New Zealand Rose Keely O'Grady didn't get a tiara after winning this year’s Rose of Tralee.
18 women spoke to the crowds on the first night, with 14 more that followed before Keely O'Grady, a 21-year-old Speech and Language Therapy student at Canterbury University, was named the 64th Rose of Tralee Festival. However, more recently, the newly crowned Rose has gone tiara-less in a shift which saw the tradition scrapped.
