McIlroy took his anger out on his driver after a poor tee-shot.
Rory McIlroy was so disgusted by a tee-shot at the BMW Championship that he threw his driver into a lake in anger.
Standing on the Par-5 17th tee at three-under Par, McIlroy pushed his tee-shot right into thick rough, a result which meant he was unable to reach the 537-yard hole in two. In anger, McIlroy flung his club into the water-hazard directly in front of the tee-box before his ball had even found solid ground.READ MORE:Scottie Scheffler injury update after wincing in pain at BMW Championship
Luckily for McIlroy, the water-hazard in question was quite shallow, so he was able to fish his club out of the drink with minimal fuss. The World Number Two managed to make Par on 17 and 18 to card a score of 71 for his second round, which leaves him in a tie for 15th position on three-under par heading into the weekend at Castle Pines Golf Club in Colorado.
