With more and more smart TV platforms now vying for your attention, streaming giant Roku seems to have decided to up its software upgrade game in a bid to hold on to its current status as the number one streaming platform in the US. In late 2022, and now it’s followed that up with a wide-ranging update to its Roku OS system that introduces new features and improvements across multiple service areas.
The upcoming Roku firmware update will also introduce features designed to help you better navigate the 400+ free live linear TV channels Roku TV carries, including making live TV browsing simpler by personalising the order of channels in the Live TV Channel Guide and removing channel numbers. The Roku TV platform supports numerous music as well as video services, so it’s good to see Roku’s upcoming update introducing some new music-related features too. New shuffle and skip ahead features improve playback flexibility, while new options to add video playlists to your Save Lists and receive recommendations for similar playlists head up a series of new music content management options.
