The Rochester Museum and Science Center hosted a partial eclipse viewing party on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023.
Rochester, N.Y. — While the weather wasn't totally clear for Rochester stargazers, that didn't stop many from trying.RMSC staff and volunteers provided telescopes and special glasses to onlookers trying to catch a glimpse of the partial eclipse. “It's going to get dark in the middle of the day,” said Tommy Wilmot. “It's going to be cool to see.”
“This is only a warmup for us,” said Dan Schneiderman, eclipse partnership coordinator at the RMSC. “While we get about 25 percent of the sun covered up at 1:13 p.m., in April, it's going to be completely blocked out. This is nothing in comparison to what we'll see in April, but this is a great opportunity to get prepared.”
