The war-crime allegations against VC soldier Ben Roberts-Smith have not been “proven” to the standard required in a normal criminal trial, says Sky News host Peta Credlin.

Her comments follow the dismissal of the veteran’s defamation case against Nine Newspapers on Thursday.

“This defamation action was a civil trial so it’s the lower burden of proof – that’s the balance of probabilities,” Ms Credlin said. “Today’s outcome will likely be appealed by Roberts-Smith – and until that happens, I’m not going to be one of those in the media tonight joining in on the pile-on against Ben Roberts-Smith.”
