The newest addition to the Broncos’ Walton-Penner Ownership Group is seven-time Formula One world championship driver Sir Lewis Hamilton as a limited shareholder.

“He is a champion competitor who knows what it takes to lead a winning team and a fierce advocate for global equality, including in his own sport,” Rob Walton said in a statement. “With over 100 race wins, Lewis is considered the most successful F1 driver of all time. His resilient spirit and standard of excellence will be an asset to the ownership group and the Broncos organization.”

The transition of ownership to the Walton-Penner Group will become official next Tuesday in Minneapolis. Since signing a $4.65 billion purchase agreement, Hamilton, Condoleezza Rice and Mellody Hobson have been added as limited partners. Hamilton, 37, drives for the Mercedes team in Formula One and was born and raised in England.
