“There are 2,298 inmates in Penang Remand Prison, seven staff quarters with 117 units and eight prison officials’ houses.
“We will be setting up three roadblocks and three police checkpoints to make sure that the public do not enter the restricted areas. “We urge the public not to panic and be calm. The enhanced MCO only involves Penang Remand Prison and the prison quarters. On Tuesday, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said Penang Remand Prison and the prison officers quarters would be placed under an enhanced MCO from Oct 15.Meanwhile, about 2,000 inmates at the Seberang Prai prison will undergo Covid-19 screening after three of them were infected on Tuesday.
