From crank calls to complaints about phone credits, MCMC said there has been a ‘worrying’ increase in the number of non-emergency calls made to the MERS 999 hotline throughout the month of July.
The Alliance for a Safe Community chairman stressed that it was everyone’s responsibility to abide by the set rules and regulations, adding that a collective approach was needed to ensure safer roads for all.
Lee said road safety was not solely the responsibility of the government, stressing how communities also could play their part in educating road users on road safety. “More importantly, enforcement must be strengthened and send a message that this is a serious matter and there is no compromise for violations,” he said.
