MELAKA: A staggering 2,658 teenagers have been driving and riding vehicles on Melaka's roads without valid licences since January, say state police.
Melaka’s top cop Deputy Comm Datuk Mat Kasim Karim said the number of deaths and traffic offences has reached a worrisome stage with 79% of the 3,347 summonses, issued from Jan 1 to Nov 30 this year, is for various traffic offences involving teenagers.
“There were also 202 of these teenagers caught without registration number plates during traffic operations within the corresponding period, ” he said on Tuesday after receiving five new Mistubishi Outlanders for the traffic police.
